Greenfield’s Home & School Association (the “HSA”) is raising approximately $325,000 to fund the installation of new playground equipment. Our goal is to break ground on the project during the summer of 2020.
Of this amount, the HSA is looking to raise $50,000 to replace the school’s outdated kindergarten play area. We are raising another $225,000 to replace the school’s primary play structure. |
We believe this project deserves your support because:
|
The HSA was recently nominated to apply for a Keystone Opportunity grant in the amount of $100,000.00 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (the “DCED”). The DCED will require the HSA to obtain a dollar-for-dollar match in order to qualify for the full amount of this grant.
|
To achieve this goal, the HSA is asking parents and members of the community to consider their personal networks to identify individuals or companies who share our commitment to improving our greater community. If you know of someone who may be able to make a pledge or you otherwise would like assistance in reaching out to your personal network, please email greenfieldhsa.fundraising@gmail.com.
The redevelopment of its playground is uniquely positioned to benefit not just Greenfield’s students but also the larger community of which Greenfield is a part. Greenfield’s playground is the only publicly accessible playground located in Center City West. Studies have shown that parks and open space have a positive impact on nearby property values. As stated by the President of the Center City Residents’ Association, “We believe our collective support will create a world-class play space for Greenfield’s students and the many young families who raise their children in Greenfield’s immediate vicinity.” |
Greenfield’s playground is the only centrally-located, public play space located in Center City West, a neighborhood with a growing population now over 30,000 people. A new playground will serve as a vibrant urban oasis and lasting neighborhood asset benefitting not just Greenfield’s students but also the many young families who live and work in Greenfield’s immediate vicinity. Since the school opened its doors in 1970, Greenfield has made its playground accessible to the public and local community without the use of walls or gates.
